Audio formats

 Most AVCHD camcorders record audio using a compression scheme called Dolby Digital (AC-3). It supports both stereo and multichannel audio. The audio data rate can be between 64 kbit / s and 640 kbit/s. In reality it has reported data levels of 256 kbit / s and 384 kbit / s.[Original research? ] 

Some of the professional models allow uncompressed linear PCM audio recording.

When you don't have professional video tools, you can play your MTS videos using Windows Media Player.
